With his fifth album Terry Lee Hale stepped out of the self-confinement of the classic singer/songwriter genre with a captivating collection of songs. He incorporated musical and cultural european influences into his sound and vision, soaked up during extensive touring, which led him from Scandinavia to Greece, from England to France. The songs range from the rocking opener "Regret" to the bizarre "Freak Show", from Mariachi trumpets in "Say It And See" to the exuberant "Gypsy´s Minor Swing", from his Hommage to Fred Astaire "Tonight" to the monolithic "Slow Poison", told in the best Texan-style.
"Leaving West" was recorded in Seattle and produced by Terry Lee himself. Muscians include some of the best pickers the Northwest has to offer - Bruce Wirth, Amdrew Hare, Sean Sippel and others.
