Nick Cave formed The Bad Seeds following the end of his previous band The Birthday Party. The Bad Seeds brought together former Birthday Party guitarist Mick Harvey (drums), ex-Magazine bassist Barry Adamson, and Blixa Bargeld of Einstürzende Neubauten.
These three Collectors Editions are the final instalments in a series of fourteen releases that sees the band’s entire catalogue of studio albums digitally re-mastered and remixed for 5.1 Surround Sound for the first time since their original release.
Nocturama, Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus and DIG, LAZARUS, DIG!!! will each be released as a deluxe double-disc Collectors Edition, containing the original stereo album, the new 5.1 surround mix, a specially commissioned short film by UK artists Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard plus the b-sides from the singles, videos and exclusive sleeve notes.
In 2008, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds once more found themselves on the receiving end of a salvo of glowing critical superlatives for DIG, LAZARUS, DIG!!!. The album enjoyed as well a widespread and warm reception from fans old and new. DIG, LAZARUS, DIG!!! received the 2008 MOJO Best Album Award.
