Z'EV: percussion
Jason Kahn: percussion, analog synthesizer
Recorded by Jason Kahn April 12-16, 2009 in Geneva,
Zürich, Lausanne and Bern, Switzerland.
Mixed and mastered by Z'EV.
In 1982 it would've been hard for me to imagine that 27 years later I would be playing with the composer of a record of which I literally played the grooves off, “Salts of Heavy Metals.” But in 2009 this was the case, performing four concerts with z'ev in Geneva, Zürich, Lausanne and Bern, Switzerland.
One night in the mid-1980's I saw z'ev perform at the Anti Club in Los Angeles, which was the last I'd heard of him until sometime in the early 1990's, when I'd been living in Berlin and got to talking with Peter Hollinger one day about z'ev, who Peter had invited to Berlin for a concert which, incredibly, I had missed. This got me to thinking about z'ev again and how much his work had been an influence on me. In 2000 I wrote to z'ev about his book “Rhythmajik,” which I was interested in applying to my drum set and percussion playing. He sent me a copy of the book and then this was the last contact we had until 2008 when, quite out of the blue, I received another email from saying he was coming to Geneva
for a show and suggested we take the opportunity to do some concerts in Switzerland together .
“Intervals” documents our shows together in the form of two pieces composited by z'ev from recordings I made of each concert. Listening back to these pieces, I can only hope that we don't have to wait another 27 years to play together again!

W 1982 roku ciężko byłoby mi sobie wyobrazić, że 27 lat później będę grać z autorem płyty „Salts of Heavy Metals”, której używałem wtedy do tworzenia pętli dźwiękowych. I oto w 2009 zagrałem z nim cztery koncerty w Genewie, Zurychu, Lozannie i Bernie.
