Eight young musicians, under the leadership of pianist Mateusz Gawęda, delve into the traditions of jazz rooted in what is a distant time for them, the 1960's. Two trumpets and three saxophones, in addition to a rhythm section, sound almost like a big band here. Through skillful application of contrasts and suspense, they shift between mainstream-style playing and free-jazz mayhem. The proficiency in composing and arranging that is conveyed through Mateusz Gawęda's musical eloquence, combined with the remaining instrumentalists' exceptional technique and improvisational abilities, yielded results in the form of one of the most interesting albums recorded by a larger jazz ensemble in recent years.
