HUTSULSHCHYNA - a land situated in the Carpathian mountains on the borderland of Ukraine and Romania. It is inhabited by Ukrainian highlanders - Hutsuls. The Hutsul people are noble, proud, modest and of unbelievable hospitality. Their main occupation is shepherding and handicraft. Hutsul culture - both material and spirit - is one of the most beautifull additions to the European etnographic map.
THE TAFIYCHUK FAMILY descends from Hutsul village of Bukovet', placed between Kosiv and Verkhovyna in the Ukrainian part of the Carpathian Mountains. Cultivating local music traditions, their repertoire is recognized as a canon of Hutsul folklore.
