This debut record was recorded by the band at two Toronto locations - in the basement of college radio station C.I.U.T. and at the Harris Institute for the Arts - and originally self-released in late-1997. A first pressing of 500 sold out in their hometown almost immediately, and we were fortunate enough to hear a copy in early 1998. The re-packaged Constellation release was ready a few months later.
Combining irresistibly swingin' rhythms with reverbed guitar, the occasional horn, and some of the finest saturated synth tones we've ever heard, this record is serious ear candy for the instrumental rock connoisseur. Melodic lines repeat and change over sly bass and drum grooves, with washes of analogue keyboard bliss alternately enveloping and underpinning the mix. Brilliantly captured on 8-track reel-to-reel, but unfortunately too long for a vinyl pressing, this is our second CD-only release.
