Editor;s info:
Walkaway was the only native Polish Band that performed on the occasion of the Warsaw Jazz Festival in October 1991.
Actually disbanded, the band, led by its founder Urszula Dudziak, came back together for this event and they played as intense and exciting as if they had never split up.
The result is documented on the DVD in hand. Although the band and Urszula Dudziak had worked together rarely since her move to the United States in 1974 they collaborate as if they played together every night in a Warsaw Jazz Club.
Urszula Dudziak is most famous for her „scat“ or wordless singing, a style of non-vocal voice work. She can do an entire performance without uttering an intelligible word in any language.
Besides that, the former wife of Jazz violonist Michael Urbaniak, is also an renowned composer who worked, among others, for the New York Dance Company Collective.
