RUSCONI featuring FRED FRITH „Live In Europe“ - wonderful!
Pragmatism in times of constant complain? It may be surprising, that these lines are quotes from musicians, label-owners and unconventional thinkers, or: from self-conscious artists, thinking forward. RUSCONI are much more than just a Jazz-Trio; RUSCONI are a creative collective. Since 2004 STEFAN RUSCONI, FABIAN GISLER and CLAUDIO STRÜBY have published six studio albums, played over 300 concerts in Europe and Asia, performed musical experiments, twice won the Echo Jazz, founded Qilin Records, a label from musicians for musicians and showed that music is not just about techniques, but about feelings - and for all generations.
During the recording for their latest album „History Sugar Dream“, STEFAN RUSCONI, FABIAN GISLER and CLAUDIO SRÜBY got to know the improvisational artist and multiinstrumentalist FRED FRITH and soon appreciated him as live-companion. „There are no stylistic no-go’s or blinkers for FRED. For him it is all about sound-searching and the energy of joint moments - the freedom and strength of our creative process. And this as well has been central to us since our „Sonic Youth“-Album: To be open for surprises and to be responsive to them.“
And thus on their new album RUSCONI are full of surprises for the listeners, in the live-adaption of well-known RUSCONI-pieces like „Tempelhof“ or „Berlin Blues“ as well as in the interpretation of classics like „Here Comes The Flood“ with the wonderful vocal support by NORMA WINSTONE (included as Bonus Track).
