YASS ENSEMBLE was formed in December 2003, when the Tymon Tymański Band quartet was joined by the charismatic trumpeter Antoni Ziut Gralak, known from the bands TIE BREAK, GRAAL and YESHE. The group continues the tradition of the Tri-City yass scene, performing music that is a natural amalgam of jazz, alternative rock and ethnic music. The repertoire of YASS ENSEMBLE is a result of Tymański's compositional experience with the MIŁOŚĆ group and the knowledge and stage experience of the other musicians, each of whom is the leader of their own group and the author of a unique, original musical concept.

The band recorded material for their first album entitled "Jitte" (the name comes from a form in shotokan karate and means "ten hands") in the spring of 2004 at the Biodro Studio in Gdańsk and released it in December 2004 by the Warsaw label Tone Industria. In September 2007, "Jitte" was released on the German market, signed by the Bremen label with the familiar name Sopot Records.

In December 2007, it was re-released by Biodro Records; the author of the new, attractive graphic design is the famous Warsaw instrumentalist and graphic artist, Macio Moretti.

For the last two years, the band has been working on a new material entitled "Free Tibet", which was recorded in four sessions (in June 2006, April and November 2007 and April, May and June 2008). The producer of the second album is Piotr Pawlak, a bold sonoristic experimenter, who has musical productions of Jacek Olter's "solo" album and the new album of the band Łoskot under his belt. The musical production of the second album of TYE was also attended by Darek Makaruk, an artist from the Kielce electronic music scene.

YASS ENSEMBLE powstał w grudniu 2003 roku, kiedy do kwartetu Tymon Tymański Band dołączył charyzmatyczny trębacz Antoni Ziut Gralak, znany z formacji TIE BREAK, GRAAL czy YESHE. Grupa kontynuuje tradycję trójmiejskiej sceny yassowej, wykonując muzykę, będącą naturalnym amalgamatem jazzu, rocka alternatywnego oraz muzyki etnicznej. Repertuar YASS ENSEMBLE jest wypadkową kompozytorskiego doświadczenia Tymańskiego z grupą MIŁOŚĆ oraz wiedzy i scenicznego obycia pozostałych muzyków, z których każdy jest liderem własnej grupy i autorem swoistej, oryginalnej koncepcji muzycznej.

Zespół nagrał materiał na swój pierwszy album zatytułowany "Jitte" (nazwa pochodzi od formy w karate shotokan i oznacza "dziesięć rąk") na wiosnę 2004 roku w gdańskim Biodro Studio i wydał go w grudniu 2004 nakładem warszawskiej wytwórni Tone Industria. We wrześniu 2007 roku "Jitte" ukazała się na rynku niemieckim, sygnowana przez bremską wytwórnię o swojskiej nazwie Sopot Records.
W grudniu 2007 roku została ponownie wydana przez Biodro Records; autorem nowej, atrakcyjnej szaty graficznej jest słynny warszawski instrumentalista i grafik, Macio Moretti.

Przez ostatnie dwa lata zespół pracował nad nowym materiałem pod tytułem "Free Tibet", który został zarejestrowany na czterech sesjach (w czerwcu 2006, w kwietniu i listopadzie 2007 oraz w kwietniu, maju i czerwcu 2008 roku). Producentem drugiej płyty jest Piotr Pawlak, odważny sonorystyczny eksperymentator, mający na koncie muzyczne produkcje "solowej" płyty Jacka Oltera oraz nowego albumu grupy Łoskot. W produkcji muzycznej drugiego albumu TYE wziął również udział kielecki artysta z kręgu muzyki elekronicznej, Darek Makaruk.
