In the spring of 1976 and under the conduct of Jürgen S. Korduletsch the band recorded eight tracks in various Munich studios. In October of the same year they were released as LP Pyragony 10th. Yet, its name wasnt kept uniformly: on its label you only find Pyragony, the front cover shows Pyragony 10th and its flip side Pyragony X, reminding of the Roman sign for ten which is an X. The title was invented by Peter Leopold and Wolfgang Dorsch, a friend of the band, who had been responsible for the business then and today is managing the Lollipop publishing house for music. The word Pyragony doesnt exist in English, but is artificially made up from the Greek roots of the words fire and death throes. It was meant to evoke different meanings which its reader was supposed to find out for himself. But if you think of an extincting fire with the release of their tenth LP you for sure arent that wrong.
The LP wasnt released in the U.S., because apparently the band had fallen out with the Warner management. More details can be found in the booklet of the CD Made in Germany.
The eight tracks were like the curates egg: The excellent Flower of the orient stood out far and is played live until today. Crystal hexagram, Merlin and The only thing still have some charm; at least you definitely can recognize Amon Düül II.
