Biafro is coming!
And it takes no prisoners... but rest assured, as long as you are not afraid of exotic shamanic vibrations and a powerful dose of voodoo groove, you have nothing to worry about. Straight from the forge of Biodro Records, the album "Heavy Metal Reggae" will be released around November 26.

Biafro is well known to the Tri-City audience. The band was formed in 1994 in Sopot by Larry Okey Ugwu and Jacek Staniszewski. For 16 years, out of fear that success could kill them, the project was kept a top secret. Despite their best efforts, the pulsating energy emanating from the band finally managed to get out into the light of day and now both we and the entire Polish music scene are facing the untamed musical power enchanted in the Biafro project.

When describing the content of the album, we are not writing about the music contained on it, but about the potential energy and the seemingly accessible palette of experiences it brings. So we have a dark, primal and mystical voodoo show followed by slightly lighter spiritual trance vibrations that hit the heart with a dull thud. The subject that holds all the guitar, bass, sax and vocal parts on one plane is the fundamental, pulsating rhythm and the entire album seems to be subordinate to it. There is no room here for lazy moans shrouded in green smoke in praise of "Jah". Here, sounds dissolve into many intersecting dimensions and create a space that reaches out to our ears from many sides. Biafro's music is above all lively, colorful and active, and each moment is an encouragement to continue having fun, to soak in it and stay for longer. The album is titled "Heavy Metal Reggae" and is a stream of powerful musical energy based on solid content, although we warn you that people who will look for a Rastafarian rainbow and groans in the style of "whoa oh oh" will be sorely disappointed. The band has a very specific message for specific people.

I nie bierze jeńców... ale spokojnie, dopóki nie lękacie się egzotycznych szamańskich wibracji i potężnej dawki voodoo groove, nie macie się czego obawiać. Prosto z kuźni Biodro Records, na światło dzienne w okolicach 26 listopada wyjdzie krążek „Heavy Metal Reggae”.

Biafro jest dobrze znany trójmiejskiej publiczności. Zespół powstał w 1994 roku w Sopocie z inicjatywy Larrego Okey Ugwu i Jacka Staniszewskiego. Przez 16 lat, z obawy, że sukces może ich zabić projekt trzymany był w największej tajemnicy. Mimo usilnych starań, pulsująca energia bijąca od zespołu zdołała się w końcu wydostać na światło dzienne i teraz zarówno my, jak i cała polska scena muzyczna stoi w obliczu nieujarzmionej siły muzycznej zaklętej w projekcie Biafro.

Opisując zawartość płyty nie piszemy w zasadzie o zawartej na niej muzyce, lecz o potencjalnej energii i jakby dostępnej palecie doznań jakie ze sobą niesie. Mamy więc mroczny, pierwotny i mistyczny voodoo show po którym następują nieco lżejsze duchowo, transowe wibracje trafiające jednak głuchym tąpnięciem w sam środek serducha. Podmiotem trzymającym wszystkie partie gitary, basu, saxu i wokalu na jednej płaszczyźnie jest fundamentalny, tętniący rytm i cała płyta wydaje się być jemu podporządkowana. Nie ma tu miejsca na spowite zielonym dymem leniwe pojękiwania ku chwale „Jah”. Tutaj dźwięki rozpływają się na wielu przecinających się wymiarach i tworzą przestrzeń która dobiera się do naszych uszu od wielu stron. Muzyka Biafro jest przede wszystkim żywa, barwna i aktywna, a każdy jej moment jest zachętą do dalszej zabawy, do wsiąknięcia w nią i zostania na dłużej.
Płyta nosi tytuł „Heavy Metal Reggae” i stanowi strumień potężnej muzycznej energii opartej na solidnej treści, aczkolwiek uprzedzamy, że ludzie którzy będą w niej szukać rastafariańskiej tęczy i pojękiwań w stylu „łoj oj oj” srogo się zawiodą. Zespół ma bardzo konkret.......
