Osaka Vacuum is a project devised by Ray Dickaty and Mikołaj Pałosz to explore instant composing and free improvisational music making. Both Mikołaj and Ray had performed together as a duo on several occasions and later invited Paweł Szpura to form a trio. After a number of rehearsals and concerts they went into the studio of Maciej Cieślak feeling that he would have an understanding and be sympathetic to the music that they would like to produce. For this session they decided to record onto analogue tape as it offers a warmth and depth that is often lacking in digital recordings. They also had the intention of trying to capture some of the feeling associated with the ESP record label sound from the 1960's. The results speak for themselves as the trio explore many moods from the intensity of "Way Ahead" to the abstract calm of "Mystery". The opening track, suitably entitled "Emerging View" is like heading towards a distant horizon; starting with simple percussive statements and after a time, subtly joined by the sax and cello the track builds as the view emerges to finish in a rage of colour, depth and tonality. Interacting intuitively the instruments, especially the tenor and cello intertwine in a way that sometimes it is difficult to tell them apart, all the time underpinned by the frantic yet precise drumming of Szpura. This is not an album of theme statements and soloist. What themes there are surface out of a united playing contributed by all three members each having an equal role in the rising music. This was discussed before the band entered the studio as they did not want an album of sax backed up by the section playing of cello and drums. It was, and is, a democratic statement of intent.

Mając za sobą kilka występów w duecie Ray i Mikołaj zaprosili do współpracy Pawła Szpurę i stworzyli trio. Po kilku próbach i koncertach postanowili nagrać materiał w studio Maćka Cieślaka czując, że będzie on odpowiednim realizatorem dla rodzaju muzyki jaką chcą nagrać. Sesja została zarejestrowana bezpośrednio na taśmy analogowe dające ten rodzaj głębi i ciepła jakiego brakuje we wpółczesnych nagraniach cyfrowych. W zamyśle muzyków było też uchwycenie aury jaka towarzyszy nagraniom z lat 60tych z wytwórni ESP. Rezultaty niech mówią same za siebie, gdy trio odkrywa klimaty rozpięte pomiędzy intensywnością "Way Ahead" a kojącą abstrakcją "Mystery". Utwór otwierający płytę słusznie nazwany "Emerging View" jest jak podążanie za odległym horyzontem; rozpoczynając się prostymi zdaniami na bębnach, do których stopniowo dołączają saksofon i wiolonczela rozwija się wraz z wyłaniającym się widokiem aby zakończyć się w burzy barw i głębinach tonalności. Wszystkie instrumenty współgrając intuitywnie, a w szczególności połączenie saksofonu i wiolonczeli, które miejscami trudno odróżnić, łączą się w jeden nieustannie podtrzymywane przez zapamiętałą i precyzyjną grę Pawła Szpury. Nie jest to płyta z tematami i solistami. Wszelkie przebłyski pojawiających się refrenów są wynikiem zjednoczonej gry wszystkich muzyków, z których każdy ma równe prawa. Takie było założenie przed wejściem do studia gdyż muzycy nie chcieli płyty na wiodący tenor z towarzyszeniem sekcji. Tak było i tak pozostanie demokratycznym wyrazem woli.
