It has been exactly 25 years since we were able to hear the recordings from the album "To i hola" for the first time. Our two export vocalists decided to record "jazz in folk style" or "folk melodies in jazz style". Our stars invited a distinguished group of Scandinavian and Polish musicians to collaborate. And so an extraordinary album was created. The repertoire, probably well-known to everyone, starting with "Prząśniczki", the title song "To i hola" or "Kukułeczka kuka", performed with extraordinary class, arranged by Ula and Grażyna with the help of, among others, Bogdan Hołownia and Andrzej Jagodziński. The album sounds fresh and intriguing, often downright surprising. Because when taking our folk, Slavic melodies to work with, could you expect that they contain so much swing that they can be performed like real bossa novas or played in a reggae rhythm? An additional attraction are two pieces by Chopin, which end the sides of the album. In the meantime, many different interpretations of the music of our national composer have been released, but the versions of Grażyna Auguścik and Urszula Dudziak are unmatched and it is a pity that they have not recorded Chopin's music on a larger scale so far.
"To i hola" is an outstanding album, a beautiful showcase of our Polish, Slavic folklore. It is an album that should be in every Polish home.

Właśnie mija dokładnie 25 lat od kiedy po raz pierwszy mogliśmy usłyszeć nagrania z płyty "To i hola". Nasze dwie eksportowe wokalistki postanowiły nagrać "jazz na ludowo" albo "melodie ludowe na jazzowo". Nasze gwiazdy zaprosiły do współpracy zacne grono skandynawskich oraz polskich muzyków. I tak powstała płyta niezwykła.

Doskonale znany chyba wszystkim repertuar, począwszy od "Prząśniczek", tytułowego "To i hola" czy "Kukułeczka kuka", wykonany z niezwykłą klasą, zaaranżowany przez Ulę i Grażynę z pomocą m.in. Bogdana Hołowni czy Andrzeja Jagodzińskiego. Płyta brzmi świeżo i intrygująco, często wręcz zaskakująco. Bo czy biorąc na warsztat nasze ludowe, słowiańskie melodie można się było spodziewać, że jest w nich tyle swingu, że można je wykonać jak rasowe bossa novy albo zagrać w rytmie reggae? Dodatkową atrakcją są dwa utwory Chopina, kończące strony płyty. W międzyczasie ukazało się sporo różnych interpretacji muzyki naszego narodowego kompozytora, ale wersje Grażyny Auguścik i Urszuli Dudziak są niedoścignione i należy żałować, że nie nagrały do tej pory muzyki Chopina w większym wymiarze.
"To i hola" to płyta wybitna, piękna wizytówka naszego polskiego, słowiańskiego folkloru. To płyta, która powinna być w każdym polskim domu.
