Reissue of the first album of the group created in 1989 in France with which among others Ian Harris cooperated – sound engineer from Manchester, co–originator of the sound of Joy Division and New Order. Compositions about extremely atmospheric, balancing on the border of gothic and industrial style building. This album will be to taste of This Mortal Coil or and Attrition fans.

This is the band Sisygambis’ first album. Created in 1989 by Christine Coulange and Nchan Manoyan, it will develop into works of music and film until Nchan’s death in 2009. This CD is the new edition of the initial audio tape on the labels A–Lek and Esprit in 1993.

Nicolas Dick, guitar player, joined them in 1991 for a three years long adventure. He is the founder/singer of the band Kill the Thrill.

Ian Harris, sound engineer from Manchester, signed Joy Division and New Order’s sound. He fell in love with Eastern Europe while on tour with Sisygambis and soon started working with Polish bands like Myslovitz.

Michel Comin, video director, was of many tours and shows, and this till the end. His images are the band’s transformations testimonies.

From words to voices
During tours the ever present text starts fading behind voices, screams and singing, it becomes sounding echos of the crossed countries languages. The song writing is composed while traveling, it is inspired by the experiences and the energy felt from these new cultures. The Franco–French clichés, limits and frustrations disappear when you feel European and a citizen of the world.

Eastern Passage

Pierwszy, wznowiony album grupy utworzonej w 1989 roku we Francji z którą współpracował m.in. Ian Harris – inżynier dźwięku z Manchesteru, współtwórca brzmienia Joy Division i New Order. Kompozycje o niezmiernie atmosferycznej i balansującej na granicy gotyku i industrialu budowli. Płyta, która z pewnością przypadnie do gustu fanom This Mortal Coil czy Attrition.

Data powstania zespołu zbiegła się w czasie z upadkiem żelaznej kurtyny. Sisygambis (Christine Coulange i N’chana Manoyana) ruszyli wówczas w trasę po Niemczech, Polsce, Czechach, Słowacji, Słowenii i Rosji. Kontakty nawiązane podczas podróży zaowocowały też późniejszą działalnością w tej części Europy.

W 1994 roku Sisygambis zostali zaproszeni do wzięcia udziału w programie „Jeźdźcy Apokalipsy” w Telewizji Polskiej, wystąpili też na festiwalach Tcheboksary New Time (Rosja 1994) oraz Alternativa (Praga 1996).

Pierwsza, wznawiana dziś w formie kompaktu kaseta zespołu, ukazała się w 1993 roku, dwa lata później w Cyber Studio w Katowicach został nagrany album Interficias te Ipsum.

W 1997 roku grupa nagrywała płytę Four Stages of Cruelty w czeskim Taborze, w stworzonym przez zespół Sabot z San Francisco alternatywnym Centrum Kultury CESTA. Tutaj w ramach Facing Genders oraz TH Kultur rozpoczęła się współpraca Sisygambis z formacją taneczną Butch Uro Teatr Koku (USA, Japonia). Artyści zaprosili Uro Teatr Koku do Marsylii, by zrealizować wideo w stworzonym przez siebie 7 Portes Studio.
Album ukazał się w 1998 roku, powstał też klip, a zespół wyruszył w kolejną trasę po Europie.

W 1999 roku razem z grupą Sabot, Sisygambis wyruszyli w podróż legendarnym Jedwabnym Szlakiem. Przez sześć miesięcy wędrowali do Szanghaju, nagrywając i filmując fascynujące ich obrazy i dźwięki.

Rok 2008 to początek podróży przez Włochy, Egipt, Maroko, Komory, Tanzanię, aż do Zanzibaru. W trakcie tej wyprawy w 2009 r.......
