W ciągu długich lat Han Bennink grywał z najważniejszymi muzykami Europy i Ameryki wszystkich właściwie stylów związanych z jazzem. Jego nazwisko pojawia się u boku takich sław jak Eric Dolphy, Dexter Gordon, Derek Bailey, Cecil Taylor, Peter Brotzmann, Ken Vandermark, Von Freeman, Evan Parker czy przede wszystkim - Misha Mengelberg. Chociaż kojarzony jest raczej z awangardową sceną to pojawia się także w składach mainstremowych czy nawet dixielandowych. I chociaż rozpoczynał swoją niebywałą muzyczną karierę ponad pięćdziesiąt lat temu, swój pierwszy w pełni autorski zespół powołał dopiero w 2008 roku. W Han Bennink Trio słynnemu liderowi partnerują: Joachim Badenhorst, młody belgijski klarnecista opraz pochodzący z Danii pianista, Simon Toldam. Po serii świetnie przyjętych koncertów w całej Europie, we wrześniu 2009 roku ukazała się pierwsza płyta autorskiego projektu Hana Benninka. I ona zyskała znakomite recenzje i uznanie - tak krytyków jak i publiczności. Drugi album trio ukazał sie w tym roku - nie przynosi on stylistycznych rewolucji, lecz - mamy wrażenie - jest odważniejszy improwizacyjnie. Polecamy gorąco!
