Claiming that somebody is a living legend is a paradox because it presents a concluded history, as it were. William Parker has helped create the history of free jazz and the language of the avant-garde. Therefore, he is a legend, but a legend focused on Today, on what he can still give to the world. His message is intertwined with fundamental values of Sufi philosophy: beauty, harmony, love, freedom, intuition, meditation and exploration. What William Parker brought to Wrocław was the music of excellent interaction revealing the quartet's intuitive performance.

In a friendly atmosphere at a rather small, timbered venue fully packed with almost 400 people, four concentrated musicians, each at the height of their abilities, created an uninterrupted stream of ecstatically flowing sounds. The duet of William Parker and Hamid Drake resembled a perpetual motion machine the essence of which was the pure, pulsing groove rhythmically strumming the invisible strings of primordial beauty. In between the two, Bob Brown and Lewis Barnes were weaving their ever tense narration reminiscent of the Ornette Coleman Quartet.

Pierwsze gorące dni lata. Wrocław zapłonął wraz z festiwalem Art Of Improvisation, gdzie sztuka improwizacji jest siłą porządkującą nieuporządkowane, tworzącą najpiękniejsze i najbardziej niewiarygodne połączenia, zapatrzoną w przyszłość wyznawczynią tradycji. William Parker tworzył historię free jazzu, język awangardy. Jest zatem legendą, lecz skoncentrowaną na dziś, na tym, co sam ciągle może dawać światu. Jego przesłanie splata się z filarami filozofii sufickiej: pięknem, harmonią, miłością, wolnością, intuicją, medytacją i poszukiwaniem. Do Wrocławia William Parker przywiózł muzykę doskonałej interakcji ujawniającą się w intuicyjnej pracy kwartetu. Nieduża sala, kameralna publika, przyjazna atmosfera, czterech skoncentrowanych muzyków w niemal życiowej formie, tworzących nieprzerwany tok ekstatycznego strumienia dźwięków. Duet Williama Parkera i Hamida Drake’a był jak perpetuum mobile, którego kwintesencję stanowił tętniący, rasowy groove, poruszający rytmicznie niewidzialne struny pierwotnego piękna. Pomiędzy nich wplatali swą nieustannie napiętą narrację Rob Brown i Lewis Barnes, przywołując reminiscencje kwartetu Ornette’a Colemana, tworząc wyraźną kontynuację tej bogatej historii.
