Across 8 discs presented in a rigid lift off lid box, this set contains the 17 recording sessions made between 1951 and late 1956 by the extraordinary trumpeter, leader, composer, and perpetual catalyst - Miles Davis. Featured in this collection are some of the most influential Jazz artists of all time including Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus, Sonny Rollins, Lee Konitz, as well as the original Davis Quintet: John Coltrane, Red Garland, Paul Chambers, and Philly Joe Jones.

This package also contains a 64-page illustrated booklet that includes rare photographs, full discographical details, and an extensive essay as well as a detailed analysis of each session by Dan Morgenstern, Director of the Institute of Jazz Studies at Rutgers University.
