Liner notes:
Our concert tour in Mexico was also my first visit ever to that country. The trip was quite intensive, so this time there were practically no chances to do any sightseeing. Luckily, though, it turned out that I was going to have a few free hours before our flight from Oaxaca to Mexico City. Together with my bassist, Robert Kubiszyn, we decided this would be the perfect time for an excursion to the hill of Monte Albán, which is only a few kilometers away from Oaxaca. Thanks to the fact that we headed out there in the early morning, we were able to view this usually tourist-crowded complex of ancient pyramids in nearly absolute silence. Monte Albán is one of the most enigmatic places that I've ever been to. The historical construction of the enormous terrace, from centuries ago (the size of about 60 football stadiums), reminded me more of some archaic airport designed for spaceships, or a set from a science-fiction film. There are theories which posit the participation of extraterrestrial beings in the construction of pyramids throughout the world, since they appeared on a number of continents independently of one another, by similar means, and within more or less the same time period. It all becomes even more mysterious, when we consider the fact that the type of stone used in the construction of the Monte Albán site supposedly doesn't occur naturally in that region. So perhaps it is true that the pyramids were, indeed, built by aliens, and that the landing strip at Monte Albán is prepared for their return in the future? Of course, there is nothing to prove that this is the case. For me, though, the aura of that place was a huge inspiration, and no doubt had a significant influence on the music that's on this CD, which was recorded very shortly afterwards in Mexico City, by our drummer Hernan Hecht. I hope that it stimulates your fantasies!
