"...Camouflaged beneath homemade masks and feathered headgear, Metallic Falcons' Sierra Cassady (CocoRosie) and Matteah Baim go to great lengths to disguise and negate their identities. This same theatrical obscurity extends to the darkened, spacious lullabies on the pair's debut album Desert Doughnuts. Although the duo has termed their creations "soft metal," this open-ended descriptor is insufficient to prepare the listener for entrance into the Falcons' vast and cryptic hemisphere. A luminous construction of blurred Medieval whispers, narcotic guitar figures, and thunderous percussion that reverberates like hoofbeats across the mesa, Desert Doughnuts appears above the dashboard like a mirage, the music's vaporous structure ready at any moment to dissolve into the twilight.() Desert Doughnuts also features appearances by Antony Hegarty, Devendra Banhart, Jana Hunter, and Tarantula A.D. drummer Greg Cosgrove. Despite this amassed firepower, however, the album has a gauzy, distanced production that often sounds as though the musicians and their recording equipment had been purposefully isolated in separate desert canyons. This diffuse recording method lends an appropriate sense of wide-open grandeur to airy tracks like "Desert Cathedral" or "Misty Song", but it does leave one to wonder exactly how many background details might have gotten lost in the wash" [Matthew Murphy]

"...This album is all about space; not outer space, although at some points it may feel that way. It's about open space and a feeling of emptiness, it's about dead air, particularly haunted dead air. The vocal teamwork of Sierra Cassady (CocoRosie) and Matteah Baim is extremely arresting, although most of the album's charm(if you want to call it charm) comes mostly from Sierra. Though not quite as evident in her work in CocoRosie, Sierra has got an incredibly versatil.......

Zespół CocoRosie to WYJĄTKOWE ZJAWISKO, nawet w świecie anglosaskim, gdzie występowanie wszelakich frików jest częstsze niż gdziekolwiek indziej, siostry Casady podbiły wiele serc. Wespół z Antony & The Johnsons, Devendrą Bahnart i wieloma innymi stworzyli swoistą dźwiękową komunę, w której powstają najciekawsze dzisjaj indie rockowe płyty.



Obie płyty CocoRosie „La Maison De Mon Reve” z 2004 i „Noah's Ark” z 2005 trafiły do pierwszych dziesiątek najlepszych płyt roku wielu opiniotwórczych mediów po obu stronach oceanu. Muzyczna prasa oszalała na ich punkcie, dostrzegając w dziewczynach nowe wcielenie Billie Holiday.



Teraz przyszedł czas na projekt starszej z sióstr Metallic Falcons, jaki Sierra Casady nagrała wraz z ekscentryczną Matteh Baim, która zajmuje się sztukami wizualnymi i prowadzi wytwórnię Voodoo-Eros. Skład uzupełniają Greg Rogrove (Tarantula A.D.), Anthony (Anthony & The Johnsons), Jane Hunter, Devendra Banhart.



Sierra Casady zaczynała swoją przygodę z muzyką od fascynacji gospel, a jako nastolatka została uwiedziona przez świat opery. Na tyle skutecznie, że występowała jako sopranistka na operowych scenach Rzymu czy Nowego Jorku.





'...Sierra Cassady (CocoRosie) i Matteah Baim określają swoje dzieło mianem miękkiego metalu. Ale nie uciekajmy w popłochu. Do metalu nawiązuje tematyka i mocna perkusja, która, wraz z gitarą, rozbija uduchowioną atmosferę. Tworzą ją zaszumione i spogłosowane linie instrumentów oraz operowo-kościelne wokalizy. Płyta tworzy sugestywny melancholijno-groteskowy nastrój pokracznego, majaczącego na horyzoncie raju utraconego. Rozmyte struktury utworów, niwelujący niuanse brzmieniowe sposób realizacji nagrania i powtarzany schemat rockowego hałasu, który psuje anielskie harmonie, to na dłuższą metę nużące oczywistości. Ale ta zamierzona naiwność ma urok i warto dać się zaczarować odgłosom.......
