Danish super group Girls in Airports returns this Autumn with the release of their 5th album ‘Live’ recorded in Germany, April 2017. Described as ‘a unique blend of Nordic jazz lyricism, indie-rock influences and sounds from around the world’, their charismatic live performances have quickly made them one of the most talked about new bands on the international scene. Featuring four new tracks as well as eight finely honed performances from their previous three albums, ‘Live’ combines jazz, indie and urban folk into a unique expression of heart stirring melody-laden elegiac hooks and dance-friendly globally-influenced rhythms.

Featuring five of the most distinctive and creative musicians from the Danish scene, Girls in Airports has again lived up to the hype surrounding them as one of the most vital experimental ensembles in Europe. With a coherent and unique sound, their music is both absorbing and powerfully emotive. Moving elegantly between the raw and gritty percussive energy of ADAC (a title that references Aussie rockers AC/DC and a German vehicle breakdown service) to the blissful serenity of Aeiki, the band has delivered an intrinsically captivating album.

Thanks in large part to labels like ECM, Odin Records and Rune Grammofon, jazz fans in the US have become familiar with a many Norwegian and Scandinavian jazz artists. Copenhagen based Girls in Airports has not been one of those groups but it's about time the quintet broke into this market. The group debuted with a self-produced, self-titled album in 2010. Then a quartet, an additional percussionist joined with their sophomore release. Live is their fifth album and is culled from three 2017 concerts in Hamburg, Dresden and Berlin.

Trzeba przyznać, że Girls In Airports to dość oryginalna nazwa dla zespołu, w którego składzie znajduje się pięciu panów. Duńska formacja jednakże pod tym szyldem wydaje już swój piąty album – tym razem zarejestrowany na żywo podczas trasy koncertowej po Niemczech. Styl tej grupy najłatwiej określić jako połączenie nordyckiego liryzmu z wpływami indie rocka i szeroko pojętej muzyki świata. Efektem jest unikalne i wyjątkowo absorbujące brzmienie oparte na zdecydowanej motoryce sekcji rytmicznej.

Płyta „Live” to odzwierciedlenie pasji, jaką wkładają Duńczycy w swoje występy na żywo. Koncerty zawsze były dla nas niezwykle ważne i jest to najlepszy sposób, aby dotrzeć do odbiorców. Gramy ze sobą od ośmiu lat i w przeciągu tego czasu wiele utworów radykalnie się zmieniło. Nagranie albumu „Live” to doskonała okazja, żeby to wszystko udokumentować. To właśnie podczas gry na żywo zespół jest naprawdę razem. Pozwalamy sobie na to, aby być bardziej wolni, jesteśmy w lepszym kontakcie z muzyką, którą gramy jak i pomiędzy sobą. Na płycie znajdziemy 12. utworów, wśród których 4. to kompozycje premierowe. Obok tak rewelacyjnych, wręcz przebojowych nagrań jak: Kaikoura i Broken Stones, znajdziemy utwory znacznie bardziej wymagające, które zawierają rozbudowane partie solowe, albo gdzie nastrój kreowany jest na płaszczyznowej, wyciszonej dynamice, tak jakby zespół czaił się przed zadaniem decydującego „ciosu” słuchaczom w postaci takich perełek jak mesmeryczny Albert Kahn czy też energiczny ADAC, którego nazwa odnosi się do niemieckiego automobilklubu Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club. Duńczycy pragnęli więc dosadnie oddać atmosferę ich koncertów, zachowując na „Live” reakcje publiczności, jak i wszystkie.......
