The Colours of the Poprad melodies. Archival recordings of traditional music and songs of the Poprad Gorals from the Phonographic Collection of The Institute of Art of The Polish Academy of Sciences.
The Poprad Gorals, also known as the Black Gorals, are an ethnic group inhabiting central part of Beskid Sądecki, around the towns such as: Piwniczna, Rytro and Łomnica. It is there, where the documentary recordings were registered. Due to a rather small number of the oldest available phonographic documentation, the authors of the presented choice focused mainly on the threads that are little known today, but representative for the region. The recordings, taken soon after WWII present the colourfulness of the old Poprad note.
