Combined with Marta Dias and Yves Marguet the result is the unique sound of pH4.
The pleasant, interesting and varied music is the musical equivalent of a cocktail, hence the title.

Philippe Cornaz: "Sometimes, some self-evident facts take longer than others to come true. It is the case for this record. Our two musical personalities have a lot in common and complement one another naturally. Yet, it took almost 25 years after our first collaboration in the context of Drago-Rogg's CD Six, for this joint project to come alive.

We sought help from the percussionist Marta Dias at the cajón and from the bass player Yves Marguet. Upon playing the first note at the first rehearsal, the harmony and the pleasure of playing together were palpable. We wanted a pleasant, interesting and varied music... which is the very definition of the cocktail we have chosen as the title of the album… which, in this case, can be drunk shamelessly. "

Philippe Cornaz
(1957) Vibraphonist, attended the Berklee College of Music along with Gary Burton. He performed alongside Jerry Bergonzi, Frank Marocco, François Jeanneau or Adam Nussbaum and played around with French and contemporary music. Musical composition, arrangement and teaching complete the picture.

Yves Marguet
(1981) Yves is a bass player who studied in Geneva in contemporary music and jazz. He is actively involved in stages and studios in the Léman area in wide-ranging projects such as sideman (pop-rock, funk, world music), and more recently in the production of electronic music

Philippe Dragonetti
(1959) Guitar player, attended the Conservatories of Geneva and Lausanne. He brilliantly received degrees in classical music. But jazz, flamenco and rock follow close behind. Teaching and musical composition.......

Znamy nagrania takich kwartetów w wydaniu Gary'ego Burtona - z Patem Metheny'm, Johnem Scofieldem, Kurtem Rosenwinkelem czy Julianem Lage w składzie. Burton stworzył coś na kształt wzorca z Sevres takiej obsady. Porównania są zatem jak najbardziej uprawnione.
Szwajcarski wibrafonista Philippe Cornaz współpracuje z gitarzystą Philippe'm Dragonettim od ponad 25 lat, to zjawisko, które w jazzie (w przeciwieństwie do rocka) występuje nieczęsto. To buduje głęboką artystyczną relację, która w zasadniczy sposób wpływa na swobodę wykonawczą i spójność jazzowej interakcji.
W repertuarowym planie nie ma tu miejsca na nieokiełznane kawalkady dźwięków, niespełna godzina muzyki upływa w dużym stopniu w nastrojowych, często melancholijnych klimatach. Wszystko ma swoje miejsce, czas i niezwykły klimat. Brzmienie wibrafonu Cornaza i gitary Dragonettiego zdominowało to nagranie, to właśnie na osi wibrafon-gitara tworzone są fundamenty narracyjne kwartetu. Bardzo udanym zabiegiem jest "osłabienie" siły ognia sekcji rytmicznej. Marta Dias nie zasiada w studio nagraniowym za klasycznym jazzowym zestawem perkusyjnym, preferuje perkusjonalia i kojarzony z flamenco skrzynkowy cajon. Takie brzmieniowe środowisko perkusyjne doskonale współgra z dźwiękiem wibrafonu.
Muzyka płynie niezwykle swobodnie i miękko. To zasługa znakomitych muzyków, tworzących jednorodny muzyczny organizm. Cornaz na wibrafonie każdy dźwięk atakuje z godną podziwu finezją, jego wirtuozeria po prostu magnetyzuje a melodia po prostu "płynie" i oczarowuje. Dragonetti prezentuje świetną technikę i co chwila zaskakuje swoimi nietypowymi rozwiązaniami harmonicznymi.
Program płyty to kompozycje obu liderów - Cornaza i Dragonettiego, a na deser otrzymujemy czarowną interpretację hity Abbey Lincoln - "Wholly Earth". Tak skonstruowana płyta robi wielkie wrażenie.
