Far Star is the new album from Israeli-born and New York based guitarist Gilad Hekselman – a work that explores a new universe rich in colour, limitless in detail and bold in vision. Based for more than 18 years in New York, Gilad has become a well known figure in that highly creative scene, building a unique sound that is both progressive and timeless. For Gilad, the thread that binds all his music making is finding a balance between something for the listener to hold on to and something more progressive, a marriage of unpredictability with hooky, immediate connection. Urodzony w Izraelu, od 2004 roku mieszkający w Nowym Jorku gitarzysta Gilad Hekselman za sprawą współpracy z gwiazdami jazzu jak Esperanaza Spalding, Mark Turner, Chris Potter, Getchen Parlato, John Scofield, Avishai Cohen czy Aron Parks stał się muzykiem rozpoznawalnym. Od lat nagrywa autorskie albumy, m.in.. Z Markiem Turnerem, Jeffem Ballardem, czy Aaronem Parksem. Ma też na swoim koncie doskonałą płytę "Atlantic" atlantyckiego kwartetu Radka Wośko (Multikulti Project, 2016).
W 2005 r. muzyk wygrał Gibson Montreux International Guitar Competition, by rok później otworzyć tam koncert Paco de Lucii. W 2017 r. Hekselman zajął 1. miejsce w kategorii Rising Star w plebiscycie magazynu Downbeat. Ceniony jest za swoje kompozycje, wysublimowany dźwięk i wyjątkową artykulację. Gitarzystą jest niezwykłym. Jego paleta brzmień jest bardzo szeroka i pełna subtelnych odcieni. Gra łagodnie, ale w wirtuozowskim stylu.
Najnowsza płyta "Far Star" ukazała się na CD i na Vinylu w oficynie Edition Records. Z maestrią rasowego opowiadacza przedstawia nagranie o wciągającej dramaturgii.
Podejście Hekselmana do tworzenia nowego materiału, uwarunkowane zostało bezprecedensowymi warunkami, które były konsekwencją pandemii.
„Na początku 2020 r. wróciłem do Nowego Jorku po trzy miesięcznym pobycie z rodziną w Azji Południowo-Wschodniej. Napisałem tam sporo nowej muzyki, gotowej do grania z przyjaciółmi” - wyjaśnia Hekselman. „Chwilę po lądowaniu Nowy Jork stał się covidowym epicentrum, nagle wszystko stanęło, również moje plany nagraniowe. Jak wszyscy inni, nie wiedziałem, jak długo to będzie trwać, więc zacząłem samodzielną pracę nad nowym materiałem. Tygodnie odosobnienia zamieniły się w miesiące, oglądałem setki samouczków, wziąłem lekcje inżynierii dźwiękowej, konsultowałem się z zaprzyjaźnionymi producentami… Po tysiącach godzin pracy skończyłem coś, co nazwałem - Far Star"
