Polish ambassadors of jazz-inspired electronics asked outstanding, domestic creators of downtempo, dance music, hip hop and jazz to remix this album. The result is "Recut" - the best remix album in the history of Polish phonography. An album worthy of the historical original in every respect. It is an extraordinary story about the history and present of Polish electronics.

This year marks 20 years since the release of the debut album of the Skalpel group, which was released by the famous British label Ninja Tune in 2004. The Polish duo of Marcin Cichy and Igor Pudło gained international recognition by entering the then unknown territories of Eastern European jazz and updating it with the help of electronic tools.

"In these compositions, Skalpel effortlessly blurs the line between the organic and the electronic like a landscape painter (...) creating deep nuances of light and shadow that give the whole thing depth. (...) It is hard to deny their rhythmic dexterity and melodic momentum," wrote a Pitchfork reviewer at the time.

The prestigious "The Wire" added: "jazz, breaks, scat shuffle rhythms, funky riffs - all at the highest level. This release deserves to gain recognition not only in Poland."

Today, from the perspective of two decades, we can boldly describe this album as one of the milestones of Polish electronic music and at the same time a timeless classic of downtempo, nujazz and trip-hop. Thanks to this album, the band also gained recognition on several continents, and subsequent, consistently high-quality albums of the group such as "Highlight" or "Origins" are received with great interest.

Dziś, z perspektywy dwóch dekad śmiało można określić ten album jako jeden z kamieni milowych polskiej elektroniki i jednocześnie ponadczasowy klasyk downtempo, nujazzu i trip-hopu.
