editor's info:
GoGoGo Airheart are a unique and easily recognisable feature on the landscape of eccentric, experimental modern pop/rock. Their previous efforts have each been critically acclaimed and are certainly on par with any by like-minded groups from Talking Heads to Flaming Lips. Recorded at various San Diego locations (including GSL and Three One G's own E Street house!) and mixed with Rafter Roberts (Rocket From the Crypt, Album Leaf, etc.) during the winter of 2001-02, Exitheuxa is GoGoGo Airheart's fourth full-length release and their second LP for GSL. Although revered for their bravehearted dub-heavy postpunk, GoGoGo Airheart venture well beyond this easy pigeonhole in their newer compositions. This album is certainly their most straight ahead "rock" record to date - though it's unlike anyone else's 'brand' to say the least. Useful reference points might also include Pere Ubu, Happy Mondays, Unrest, and mid-70's era Rolling Stones, to name only a handful. The instrumentation this time is considerably more diverse than in the past, incorporating saxophone, trumpet, acoustic guitars and piano. Although they've nurtured a "cult" following for close to five years now, GoGoGo Airheart are poised to break through to a whole new audience of cultured "indie-rock" enthusiasts with this release.
"Exitheuxa" is certainly their most straight-ahead "rock" record to date. Guest appearance from member of Rocket From The Crypt and Tristeza.
