The Hogs is an Irish band, who traveled around the world and who arrived in Central Europe for the first time last year. They appeared, among others, at festivals such as Eurotrialog in Mikulov or Trutnov Open Air and sold out several concerts in clubs. During their stay in the Czech Republic The Hogs meet a Czech accordionist Václav Koubek, over Czech beer, which they very much appreciated, and struck a chord with each other immediately and agreed to realize a project together: The Hogs are one of the ensembles playing Irish folk music most in demand in Ireland itself. The Hogs are not an imitation, but Irish folklore itself. Michael Casey, the leading personality of The Hogs, even wrote a few songs for Shane MacGowan (Pogues). Václav Koubek on his part is a unique Czech free-spirited musician. Dancing, guitars, banjo, accordion, bass, drums and unrelenting Iris energy rolling down from the stage combine with the captivating crudeness with which Václav Koubek narrates rewritten lyrics of Irish popular tunes (mostly about love, wandering and pubs...). Václav Koubek translated into Czech Irish and Celtic traditionals and accompanied by The Hogs recorded CD, which was released on 15 May 2007.
