Blaine L. Reininger is one of the creative mainsprings behind the cult avant-garde band Tuxedomoon. As a solo artist he has made some ten solo albums, including Broken Fingers (1982), Night Air (1984), Live in Brussels (1986), Instrumentals (1988) -- all four re-issued by LTM, and The More I Learn (2000). Most of them originally appeared on the Crepuscule label.
Byzantium is Reininger's fourth solo album for Crepuscule, recorded in 1986/87 with noted engineer Gilles Martin. The original eight tracks have now been increased to 16, and now include the whole of the 1985 mini album Paris En Automne (Paris In Autumn), never before available on CD, plus the rare track Bizmillah and a remix of Blaine's wry Kraftwerk tribute Rolf & Florian Go Hawaiian.
This new expanded version of Byzantium has been digitally remastered, and features extensive sleevenotes plus new artwork based on the Paris En Automne poster by Joel Van Audenhaege.
