This double cd set is the second from the trio of Ivar Grydeland, Tonny Kluften and Ingar Zach. One cd is a brand new studio recording where they are joined by the wonderful Sidsel Endresen for a short and beautiful vocal performance. The second cd is an almost hour long recording of the excellent concert they did with Nels Cline and Glenn Kotche from Wilco at the Kongsberg Jazzfestival in 2007. The live recording is top quality and mixed by Giuseppe Ielasi. Grydeland and Zach founded the Sofa label for improvised music in 2000, but in general the Huntsville project contrasts sharply with their other work, and reveals a quite different, more groove-based approach with strong elements of composition. In the last few years their interest in country music and electronic music has developed into a sound they have wanted to investigate further and maybe this has called for descriptions such as abstract drone americana and hypnotic country yoga?
