The debut of a new project by Duncan Patterson (ANATHEMA, ANTIMATTER, ION).

As the main composer of the best albums of his parent band, ANATHEMA, Duncan Patterson continues his musical vision in ALTERNATIVE 4, a project whose style he describes as "cinematic rock" with classical arrangements. In the recordings of the album, the artist was supported by Mark Kelson (THE ETERNAL) and Argentinian drummer Mauro Frison. The core of the music was recorded in Ireland, while the orchestral and choral parts were recorded in Mexico. All this gives the whole project not so much an international, but a universal character. The spacious, intriguing and extremely atmospheric musical landscapes that fill "The Brink" make these songs so captivatingly beautiful.

Biography:
Duncan Patterson has been an important figure on the alternative music scene since 1991, when he began his career as ANATHEMA's main composer. The peak achievements were certainly the slightly later albums, namely "Eternity" and "Alternative 4". At first, he defined the doom metal style, then led the band into more advanced and deeper musical areas - a style that the group continued after his departure.

The constant need to search for new sounds led to the creation of the ANTIMATTER project, which Duncan created with Michael Moss, and which moved around such genres as electronica, trip-hop, folk, acoustic. The band gained recognition around the world by releasing several albums and playing concerts, also with guest appearances by ANATHEMA musicians. Nevertheless, at the peak of ANTIMATTER's popularity, Duncan once again decided to leave the band to focus on another project.
