Info wydawcy:
Straight from Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro, comes an updated album of smooth soulful themes recorded by new and classic Bossa Nova stars. The songs were reconstructed by three young Carioca DJ/Producers (MARCELO DA LUA, ALEXANDRE MOREIRA and MARCIO MENESCAL, son of one of the original Bossa Nova masters, ROBERTO MENESCAL). At last, the first true Bossa remix project actually produced in Brazil! Now here`s the story: BossaCucaNova features classic artists from the original Bossa invasion of the early 60`s (CARLOS LYRA, WANDA SA, OS CARIOCAS, CLAUDIA TELLES, SILVIO CESAR and ROBERT MENESCAL), as well as younger singers ASTRID and CRIS DELANO. They recorded these tracks for Albatroz Discos, the independent Bossa label run by composer/arranger/producer Roberto Menescal. Robert Menescal is one of the original but lesser-known keyfigures of the Bossa Nova movement. Menescal composed such classics as 'O Barquinho' and 'Bye Bye Brazil' (with Chico Buarque) among many others. Later he became the head A&R man at Polygram do Brasil, where he built a fabulous roster of Brazilian artists, including Gal Costa, Jorge ben, Caetano Veloso and more. After16 years at Polygram he returned to his first love - writing and producing. In 1995 he teamed up with Raimundo Bitencourt and founded Albatroz Discos. He now produces about 10 albums a year, for Albatroz and other labels. Roberto`s son Marcio Menescal andhis friends Alexandre Moreira and Marcelinho Dalua are a team of DJ`s /programmers/producers/engineers and manic vinyl collectors. They`ve absorbed all the new sounds coming from the Nothern Hemisphere (many of which are heavily influenced by Brazilian grooves these days), but always keep their sound close to the essence of their Bossa roots. Who else could get hold of the original tracks, submit them to a funky Bossa Cuca treatment, and put together this fascinating album?
