The Bill is a punk-rock band formed in 1986 in Pionki. The Bill's founders included Dariusz "Skóra" Stawski (guitarist and vocalist) and the main creator of the repertoire, Darek "Kefir" Śmietanka (guitarist and vocalist). Kefir is the only one who still plays in the band today. In the early 90s, the band released their first demo tape, from which the song "Piosenka dla żołnierza" became the anthem of the campaign led by Jurek Owsiak to free Roman Gałuszka, who had been sentenced to prison for refusing military service. In 1992, at the Jarocin festival, The Bill achieved great success, winning second place in the audience poll. One of the effects of this distinction was a contract with Polton and the debut album "The Biut", which was very well received by the punk rock community, as evidenced by sixty thousand copies sold. The second album entitled "Początek Końca" was also very well received by the fans. In 2000, the group briefly reunited and released their first album since 1996. Another break in activity lasted until 2004. In the following years, the band gained momentum - they performed more often, summed up their 25th birthday on the album "Lekcja historii", which included archival recordings. They also began recording studio albums - "Niech tańczą aniołowie", "Historie praw" and "8siem". The Bill's message softened slightly, and the lyrics took on the character of life's reckoning with reality.

Wśród założycieli The Billa byli Dariusz „Skóra” Stawski (gitarzysta i wokalista) i główny twórca repertuaru Darek „Kefir” Śmietanka (gitarzysta i wokalista). Kefir jest jedynym, który gra w zespole do dziś. Na początku lat 90., grupa wydała pierwszą kasetę demo, z której utwór „Piosenka dla żołnierza” stał się hymnem akcji prowadzonej przez Jurka Owsiaka mającej na celu uwolnienie Romana Gałuszki skazanego na więzienie za odmowę służby wojskowej. Kolejna przerwa w działalności trwała do 2004 roku. W kolejnych latach zespół nabrał rozmachu - częściej koncertował, podsumował swoje 25. urodziny na płycie „Lekcja historii”, na której znalazły się nagrania archiwalne. Zaczął też nagrywać płyty studyjne – „Niech tańczą aniołowie”, „Historie prawdziwe” i „8siem”. Przekaz The Billa nieco złagodniał, a teksty nabrały charakteru życiowych rozliczeń z rzeczywistością.
