Peter Brötzmann curated three days of great music by wonderful musicians from all over the world! Not a retrospective but a representation of the contemporary musical spheres that Brötzmann and his comrades are investigating today.

This box documents in 18 performances Brötzmann‘s close ties to the Chicago scene, his inclination to work with Japanese artists, his cultivation of old and new friendships from New York, his faible for African musicians and collaborations with his European friends.

The extensive compilation emphasizes the vitality and variety of Brötzmann's current work and documents a historical moment of the Unlimited-Festival.

LONG STORY SHORT, the festival organized as the 25th edition of the Unlimited in Wels, Austria (3.-6.November 2011) ventured to design a festival around Peter Bro¨tzmann's practice. Not a retrospective but a representation of the contemporary musical spheres that Bro¨tzmann and his comrades are investigating today.18 performances in this box document Bro¨tzmann's close ties to the Chicago scene, his inclination to work with Japanese artists, his cultivation of old and new friendships from New York, his admiration for African musicians and collaborations with his European friends.

Pięcio-płytowy album "Long Story Short" jest wyborem nagrań 18 koncertów jakie na festiwalu Unlimited w roku 2012 zagrał niemiecki saksofonista Peter Brötzmann z udziałem swoich przyjaciół z Europy, USA i Japonii.
Co ciekawe album jest składanką, a nie zapisem pełnych koncertów.
Na pierwszej płycie znajdziemy zarówno nagrania tria Sonore (z Kenem Vandermarkiem i Matsem Gustafssonem), a zaraz po tym utwór nieistniejącego już Chicago Tentet z gościnnym udziałem zmarłego w ubiegłym roku Johna Tchicaia. Ścieżka trzecia na płycie to utwór wykonany przez trio Michiyo Yagi (Guzheng) Okkyung Lee (wiolonczela) | Xu Fengxia (koto). Płytę zamyka utwór Yatagarasu trio The Heavyweights czyli Brötzmann/Moryiama/Satoh.

Wśród wykonawców na kolejnych płytach znaleźli sę m.in. Joe McPhee, Mats Gustafsson, Jeb Bishop, Jason Adasiewicz, Bill Laswell i cała plejada gwiazd improwizacji.

Selekcji nagrań dokonał osobiście Brötzmann. On także odpowiada za projekt okładki.
