You may label the music recorded in “Ticket!” as free jazz, but nothing here conforms with what you usually hear with that identity. Why? Because alto saxophonist Mia Dyberg, double bassist Asger Thomsen and drummer Dag Magnus Narvesen transpose to music the processes used by William S. Burroughs in his poetry, and not only the cut-up techniques of that Beat Generation icon: there’s much of the playfulness, the pulse and the «silver smoke of dreams» which define Burroughs’ writing. The music is energetic and full of groove, sometimes melodic, others with a hint of the bluesy AACM influence, the group improvisations never hiding the individual contributions of these three Scandinavian musicians.
Dyberg is a danish saxophonist, improviser and composer based in Berlin and one of the new exciting voices on the European jazz scene, crossing sound experimentation and the characteristic Swedish melancholy in collaborations with improvisers like Herb Robertson, Clayton Thomas, Tristan Honsinger and Axel Dörner. Thomsen is a constant presence in the Copenhagen scene, be it alternative rock, creative jazz or avant-garde music, and Narvesen is becoming a percussionist of first choice for many improvising European and American luminaries. Together, they’re either explosive and impressionistic, wild and lyrical.

Nowy głos na europejskiej scenie improwizowanego jazzu!

Duńska saksofonistka Mia Dyberg debiutuje w oficynie Clean Feed Records. Ma za sobą współpracę z Claytonem Thomasem, Herbem Robertsonem czy Tobiasem Deliusem. Jest jedną z założycielek The international improvisers collective The Community.
Płyta "Ticket" nagrana została w triowym składzie. Mia Dyberg na alcie, Duńczyk Asger Thomsen na kontrabasie (Kresten Osgood, Kasper Tranberg, Pandelis Karayorgis) i za perkusją Norweg Dag Magnus Narvesen (Evan Parker, Andrew D'angelo, Marilyn Crispell, Alexander von Schlippenbach, Keith Tippet, Steve Beresford, Didrik Ingvaldsen, Johannes Bauer, Fredrik Ljungkvist).
Opowiadając o powstaniu płyty, Mia wymienia jako "ojca chrzestnego" Williama Burroughsa, autora "Nagiego Lunchu" - jednej z najbardziej kontrowersyjnych powieści w historii języka angielskiego. Zapiski sporządzone w stanach delirycznych i chorobowych, ułożyły się w książkę, której sam autor nie przewidział.
Czy duńska saksofonistka zafundowała sobie podobne doświadczenia nie wiem, jednak efekt jest porywający.

Współczesna popkultura, żerująca na pamięci o zmarłych, sufluje artystom/biznesmenom takie pomysły. Jednak płyta "Ticket" nie jest biletem na ten wielce obsceniczny pociąg. Trójce skandynawskim muzykom udało się stworzyć album wypełniony wieloodcieniową muzyczną formą. Oczywiście fundamentem jest telepatyczne wprost porozumienie muzyków, ono pozwala na swobodne przemykanie się pomiędzy pokojami wyobraźni liderki, bo ona tu dzierży narracyjny ster.
Słuchając tego przenikniętego skandynawską melancholią dzieła, uczestniczymy w doświadczeniu muzycznej natury, artystycznej przygodzie, podczas której przewartościujemy znaczenie słowa delikatność w jazzowej formie. Energetyczny free jazz najwyższej próby, choć ta energetyczność nie ma nic wspólnego z muzyką chociażby "Rzeźnika z Wuppertalu".

Dajmy się porwać muzyce. Kto ma uszy, niech słuch.......
