„Idiot Prayer: Nick Cave Alone at Alexandra Palace” został nagrany w czerwcu 2020 roku, gdy Wielka Brytania powoli wychodziła z zamknięcia. Występ był reakcją na izolację. Cave wykonał samotnie przy fortepianie przekrojowy materiał - od wczesnych utworów Bad Seeds i Grinderman, aż po kompozycje z najnowszego albumu Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, „Ghosteen”. Artysta początkowo planował nagrać zdekonstruowane wersje piosenek w studio, lecz gdy nadeszła pandemia wraz ze swoją autorefleksyjną ciszą, postanowił je również sfilmować.
