Nimitta consists of double bassist Massimo Pinca and soprano saxophonist Christophe Berthet.
The former is known for his collaboration with William Parker's band or the Marcos Jimanez trio.
He also successfully performs music by George Friedrich Handel, Anton Bruckner, Alessandro Scarialetti and Wolfgang A. Mozart. So far, he has published on labels such as Sony Music Classic and Hyperion.
Christophe Berthet is known for example from the avant-garde group Insub Meta Orchestra, created by Cyril Bondi and d'incise (they released the album "Occa" for Bocian).
He also recorded music with this group, including Michael Pisaro.
The duo has existed and performed for 8 years, but their debut is only now being released.
The music on this release is 9 improvised miniatures stretching between new chamber music under the sign of Wandelweisser, free improvisation reminiscent of the achievements of another Swiss band S4, and loft free jazz duets a la William Parker or Rob Brown. (GT)

Pierwszy znany jest ze współpracy z zespołem Williama Parkera czy triem Marcosa Jimaneza.
Z powodzeniem wykonuje także muzykę Georga Fryderyka Haendla, Antona Brucknera, Alessandro Scarialettiego czy Wolfganga A. Mozarta. Publikował do tej pory w takich wytwórniach jak Sony Music Classic czy Hyperion.
Christophe Berthet znany jest choćby z awangardowej grupy Insub Meta Orchestra, utworzonej przez Cyril Bondiego i d'incise (wydali dla Bocian płytę "Occa").
Z grupą tą nagrywał też muzykę miedzy innymi Michaela Pisaro.
Duet istnieje i występuje od 8 lat ale dopiero teraz ukazuje się jego debiut.
