Solowy debiut Asha Bowie'go muzyka grup Polvo i Helium. Dokumentacja jego muzycznych poszukiwań i awangardowych eksperymentów na przestrzeni ostatnich siedmiu lat.
Info wydawcy:
Libraness is the solo project of Ash Bowie- former frontman/guitarist for POLVO and bassist for HELIUM. Pedigree aside, Ash's debut solo album is one that is sure to raise eyebrows. Perhaps, it will strike the same chord as Polvo’s Cor-Crane Secret did in 1992 to the poor unsuspecting masses.
Rarely one to succumb to formulaic musical styles, Ash Bowie has created an album that is diverse as it is experimental. Most of the tracks were recorded in Chapel Hill and in his mom's basement in North Carolina. The most intense recording periods were 1993 and 1999/2000, although three of the songs were recorded during Helium's Dirt of Luck sessions in '94. Armed with a piano and effects devices, Ash was able to record some non-guitar instrumentation during this time.
In 1999, Ash enlisted the help of fellow Bostonian and producer Eric Masunaga (Sebadoh, Dambuilders, Push Kings, Magnetic Fields) for additional tweaking and knob-turning. The result is an album full of Ash's signature Polvoisms…off-time, distorted guitar jams, cool-as-ice vocals, and intricate song structures. As a cohesive unit, it is really difficult to pinpoint the right genre or sound that Libraness fits in to. Then again, that's what made Polvo so special.
"Bowie worships at the altar of rock guitar, but unlike most, worships with a warped blasphemy instead of conventional devotion." -- Baltimore City Paper
