• An exciting Italian concert (San Remo, March 23, 1963) by Blakey’s Jazz Messengers featuring Wayne Shorter & Freddie Hubbard - for the first time ever on DVD.
• The rest of the band were : Curtis Fuller, trombone; Cedar Walton, piano; Reggie Workman, bass and of course, master drummer Art Blakey.
• The program includes four well-known standards plus a Wayne Shorter composition ("Children of the Night") and a Cedar Walton tune ("Mosaic"), both of which had first been recorded in the studio for the album “Mosaic” (1961).
• With the exception of Workman, the rest of the group had been playing together since mid-1961 (Jymie Merritt was the bassist until mid-1962). Shorter was soon to depart for his first collaborations with Miles Davis.
