For That’s All I Need, Andre went back home to Detroit to cut a record of psychedelic soul and growling 4am slow jams with a solid rock and roll backbone. It’s a stone cold look back to a time when that city was messing around where the waters of rock and funk met, acid trips and Stroh’s benders going hand in hand.
Helping Andre out with the cause is a slinky lineup of Detroit’s best genre-bending players, including members of the Dirtbombs, the Witches, the Sights, Electric Six, as well as producer/guitarist/arranger Matthew Smith (Nathaniel Mayer, Outrageous Cherry, Volebeats). Lending a hand for several tracks is legendary guitarist Dennis Coffey, member of the Motown house band the Funk Brothers, and contributor to nearly every Detroit recording session from the mid-50s through the late-70s.
