ADAPTATION AND SURVIVAL is a multidirectional sound experiment dedicated to and inspired by insects. All sounds originally produced by insects have been manipulated and synthesized to create psychedelic insight into their strange and bizarre world.
ADAPTATION AND SURVIVAL is a sound experiment dedicated to and inspired by insects, their abilities to adapt and survive on this planet and their historic role in controlling the human population through plague. Because they live in a different sensory realm than humans, we have decided to explore the world of insects through a more intuitive process, gaining knowledge and understanding through sound - the sounds on these recordings were originally produced by insects.
These sound pieces are designed to align the listener with insect consciousness. To achieve the maximum effect, "active listening" techniques are strongly recommended. The intensity of the experience will be equal to the amount of effort and attention applied. These pieces are designed to be played simultaneously; in different combinations; at different speeds; from different sources.
CD 1 contains the mixes for the vinyl edition of the project. Consists of 5", 7" and 10", enabling listeners to mix and layer their own unique insect experience utilizing multiple turntables and sounds systems.
CD 2 contains a stereo representation of a single potential outcome of such exploration of the many original pieces. Listeners are encouraged to try playing the two discs simultaneously on different sound systems for further depth into the sound of insects.
