Camerata Sinfonica Austria
Davorin Mori: conductor
Editor's Info
What Klaus Paier conjures up from the bandoneon and his own accordion "Passion" has always been dramatic in the best sense of the word. Thanks to his unique technique, his unmistakable individual style and his compositional imagination, Paier is one of the great and genre-embracing storytellers of his instrument: whether solo, in a long-standing duo with cellist Asja Valcic, on the SKIP debut "Fractal Beauty" in a trio with Gerald Preinfalk and Asja Valcic or most recently in a duo with double bassist Florian Dohrmann "Inspired Rendezvous". Everywhere she shows an art that was actually just waiting for the large format.
"In his first orchestral project, Paier is now making this a reality with 22 string and wind players from the 'Camerata Sinfonica Austria'. The orchestra, co-founded in 2017 by pianist and conductor Davorin Mori and already established through outstanding performances at important festivals, sees itself as a soloist ensemble and is therefore the ideal orchestra for Paier's demanding compositions. In View to Horizon, they work together on five pieces, including the multi-part Premiere Suite and Five Musical Moments, to create an arc that unwinds like a feature film. From the brilliant Rise up to fly, which sweeps every listener into the action, to the voluptuous Awaken from Dreams and the opulent Sunset, Paier masterfully combines his soloist part with the various orchestral forces to create a sound adventure integrated into a stringent dramaturgy. From pensive lyricism to a wild storm of melodies, Paier awakens all emotions in the listener, View to Horizon is truly 'great cinema', as Oliver Hochkeppel explains in the liner notes.
