“Studánko rubínko“ (Ruby Well) is a new work of Jiří Pavlica and Hradią»an in the category of music for children. In the autumn 2005 the very popular album Hrajeme si u maminky (Playing with Mom) was published. Now Jiří Pavlica and Hradią»an have prepared new songs and nursery rhymes, poems and other folklore treasures set to music, including traditional games, taking us through the spring time from the first snowdrops to Easer holidays to St. John’s holiday.
“Studánko rubínko“ (Ruby Well) is the introductory verse line of “Píseň o Studánce Rubínce“ by Miloslav Bureą, which was ingeniously put to music by Bohuslav Martinů under the title “Otvírání studánek“ (The Opening of the Wells). It is the motif of a well and clear pure water that winds through the whole album, created by Jiří Pavlica for children and their parents. The album as well as the book with the same title by Jiřina Rákosníková, published in the Vyąehrad publishing house, is accompanied by charming illustrations of Jan Kudláček.
The album comprises 36 songs. It is opened by the introductory composition “Studánko rubínko“, and the compositions are arranged into seven thematic blocks (Předjaří / První kytičky / Píą»aličky / Doba velikonoční / Co si ptáčci povídají / Zíváníčko na spaníčko / Na travičce / Voda – vodička). (Early spring / First flowers / Whistles / Easter time / What birds are chirping / Yawning before sleep / On the grass / Water). Apart from Hradią»an there are a number of talented children singers between ages 5 to 12 years. Hradią»an invited Josef Fojta (keyboard, percussions), Jiří Kučerovský (guitar), Kamila Kozáková (oboe) and Brno choir Kantiléna headed by Jakub Klecker to the studio as guests.
