Karl Blau to kompozytor, producent, wokalista, songwriter i mulitiinstrumentalista z Waszyngtonu obecny na scenie niezaleznej od kilkunastu lat.
Jego muzyka stanowi tygiel wszystkich gatunków pojawiajacych się na świecie w ostatnim półwieczu. Znaleźć w niej można elementy folk, dub, R&B, bossa nova, grunge, hip hop, drone, worldbeat, a także soul i rocksteady.

Blau był zaangażowany w kilka projektow, m.in. Brothers Blau, Captain Fathom czy Your Heart Breaks. Intensywnie kolaborowal z muzykami z Waszyngtonu. Wśród nich warto wymienić zwłaszcza Phila Elvruma (The Microphones, Mount Eerie), do którego często jest porównywany.

Wraz z Elverumem i wokalistą i gitarzystą Bretem Lunsfordem od 1997 współtworzy indie rockowy projekt D+.

Blau to niezwykle płodny artysta. Od czasu debiutanckiego krążka "Doin' Things the Way They Happen (Knw-Yr-Own 1997) wydał kilkanaście albumów. Ostatnio nakładem K Records ukazala się plyta “Nature’s Got Away” (2008). Od płyty "Tape" z 2003 udostępnia swoje utwory za pośrednictewm serwisu subskrypcyjnego Kelp Lunacy.
