Editor's info:
With the album Pearl River, Jakob Bro has once again taken his music in another inspiring direction, collaborating with some of the most interesting musicians of the contemporary Jazz scene. On Pearl River, Bro has gathered a group consisting of saxophonists Chris Cheek and Mark Turner, bass player Ben Street and legendary drummer Paul Motian. Artists all of whom Bro has worked closely together with before, both in relation to his own projects and as a sideman. In June 2006 they all met at Avatar Studios, New York, to play and record Bro's compositions, bringing life to his musical ideas by providing their individual tones and instruments. More than just being a Jazz album, Pearl River strikes a universal note - with a sound that stems from the musical flow of every participant, interweaving harmonies, tempers and attitudes.
