Grupa dowodzona przez Josefa Ostransky'ego (Dunaj, Bittova, Vaclavek) i Dorotę Barovą (Tara Fuki).
Debut album Ptačí sliby (Bird Promises) presents Kuzmich Orchestra, a new music project of two distinctive figures on the Czech alternative scene. Both Dorota Barová and Josef Ostřanský have rich careers in many different music groups. Dorota Barová in Tara Fuki, Vertigo Quintet or in DoMa Ensemble, for example. Josef Ostřansky's guitar was the backbone of such legends as E, Dunaj, Rale or the resurrected BOO.
„Ptačí sliby“ is a song album which at first listening sounds simple, unpretending but very compact at the same time. Further listening brings new nuances and hidden surprises. Kuzmich Orchestra's compositions oscillate between intimate gentleness supported by Dorota Barova's extraordinary singing, electro-acustic neo-folk, in which acoustic guitar intertwines with layering of vocals and a tougher rock stand. Josef Ostřansky confirms “I guess our songs can be called neo-folk but I prefer neo-pop or post-hardcore-country. There is a whiff of country in the way we go about it, but If you closed your eyes at the concert and could not see me playing acoustic guitar, you maybe wouldn't think of classifying us that way. I think that we actually play big-beat.”
Repetitive riffs with minimalistic rhythm, characteristic of Kuzmich Orchestra, can be found in Dorota Barová's and Josef Ostřanský's previous work. Josef Ostřanský explains the difference between previous projects and this one: “It is in the aesthetic rather than rational level. Earlier, I made compositions with the guitar only. The immense development in the possibilities of work with computer opens a wonderful space in musical creation as well and we are not fighting it. “ There are other changes: “In Kuzmich Orchestra, Dorka switched from the cello to the guitar and from Polish into Czech.” ....... więcej
