Guitar, cigarette and a strange morning when thinking whether the upcoming day will be as useless as the previous one. Freak folk of Gregory Dimanche transformed in a one-man project called Psychedelic Morning and the new folk album Cigareta ve dvou. Thirteen songs of a Czech man with Argentinean ancestry and French grandmother who loved Edith Piaf... yeah, and his grandfather loved Miles Davis.


It is a debut album in which the significant role is played by Ingrid, as Gregory calls his “Spanish guitar”. As the album title suggests, Cigareta ve dvou/Cigarette for two, girls and relationships are one of the main themes of these songs. Also the single had a girl’s name – Julie, the second song on the album, followed by the song called Laura. Gregory adds that the album is not only about girls though. “I would say that it’s half and half. I usually figure out later what the song is actually about :) When I create a song, I spit something out, something that needs to get out of me and like a half year later I get this aha moment :) Now I know what is it about :) I call it one side of an emotional triangle, when you have to get something out of you because it’s not good to keep them inside of you.”


The album isn’t bogged down with complicated arrangements and melodies. “Psychedelic Morning are ordinary songs which are created spontaneously and casually during a very short period of time and are very spontaneous.“, says Gregory about how the songs are made. Although he adds: “So at the moment the songs are created, I don’t care about the issues of influence. Somebody hears Mňága, somebody else the classic Dylan. I love Joy Division and the voice of Ian Curtis, as well as of David Bowie and The Cure.
