Info wydawcy:
A modern Brazilian classic is born. DJ MARCELINHO DALUA, MARCIO MENESCAL and ALEXANDRE MOREIRA - the three young Rio de Janeiro producers/musicians whose first effort under the BOSSACUCANOVA moniker was released by Ziriguiboom/Crammed in late 1998 - have now become a complete band, and have recorded a lovely and contemporary album of jazzy electronic bossa nova themes entitled 'Brasilidade'.
'Brasilidade' extensively features the unique guitar and vocal scat styles of original bossa nova hero, ROBERTO MENESCAL, who also happens to be the father of MARCIO. ROBERTO MENESCAL is the composer of many standards such as 'O Barquinho' and 'Bye Bye, Brasil' (a new version of which is featured in this album). They've tastefully combined their programming skills and MENESCAL's lovely, laidback guitar playing with performances by a host of musicians (including horn, strings & percussion players) and noteworthy guests such as vocalists CRIS DELLANO and ED MOTTA (Brazil's latest soul sensation). The album contains rendition of five classic MENESCAL songs, three JOBIM evergreens, and three tracks jointly composed by BOSSACUCANOVA and MENESCAL. Great collaborations among people of different generations are rare and precious, especially when they involve members of the same family. This unique encounter is sonic proof that bossa nova (and Brazilian music in general) is timeless and will be around us forever. As MENESCAL says, this album rejuvenates the essence of bossa nova, making it fresh and exciting to yet another generation of listeners worldwide.
