· Mingus is backed by the players who had worked with him on the landmark Changes One and Changes Two albums, from which the set on the DVD is primarily drawn

· Guests Gerry Mulligan on baritone sax and Benny Bailey on trumpet join the group for the last two tracks

· Accompanying CD features a selection of Mingus’ ground-breaking studio recordings, including ‘Pithecanthropus Erectus’ and ‘Goodbye Pork Pie Hat’, his tribute to Lester Young
