Spreading over from the Renaissance to modernity bridging the gap between Europe and South America spanning a vast body of work, from masterpieces to enchanting folk-based compositions an ensemble of four classical guitarists offers you a novel and fascinating interpretation of dance music.

A guitar quartet is a somewhat rare group of musicians to form an ensemble. Homogenous in nature, performance of this kind of music takes the greatest skill. On the other hand, it has entered the whole realm of artistic means of expression and allows rendering of both the pieces originally written for the ensemble of four guitars and the transcriptions of the most superb pieces of the musical repertoire of all ages. The Cracow Guitar Quartet was founded in 2006 and its repertoire has gained much recognition since then. Several of the key works of the ensemble’s collection are those composed by Polish musicians; counted among them are works by Mieczysław Karłowicz, Karol Szymanowski, and the project “Hommage a Szczepanowski”. The ensemble have been performing both in Poland and abroad and recording for Polish Radio and TV, showing the prowess that was crowned at the 12th International Guitar Competition in Ile de Re, France, in July 2009.

Album ukazuje piękno i bogactwo muzyki tanecznej od Renesansu do współczesności, od Europy po Amerykę Południową, od arcydzieł mistrzów po pełne uroku formy oparte na muzycznym folklorze - w nowym, intrygującym brzmieniu czterech gitar klasycznych.

O zespole:
Zestaw czterech jednorodnych instrumentów wymaga najwyższego kunsztu wykonawczego. Jednocześnie otwiera szerokie możliwości artystycznego wyrazu i pozwala na interpretowanie utworów pisanych pierwotnie na ten skład, jak i transkrypcji najwybitniejszych dzieł w literaturze muzycznej wszystkich epok. Cracow Guitar Quartet powstał w 2006 roku. Jego bogaty repertuar spotyka się z dużym uznaniem. Muzyka polska jest ważnym punktem w programie zespołu (m.in. projekt “Hommage a Szczepanowski”, utwory Mieczysława Karłowicza, Karola Szymanowskiego). Zespół koncertuje zarówno w Polsce, jak i za granicą, dokonuje nagrań dla Polskiego Radia i Telewizji. Mistrzostwo artystyczne muzyków zostało nagrodzone I miejscem na XII Międzynarodowym Konkursie Gitarowym w Ile de Re (Francja) w lipcu 2009 roku.
