Released in October of 2000, 'Plays Music' is 33.3's 2nd full length & first as a five piece. Adding trumpet, trombone & upright bass to their already lush sounding musical mix, we feel that on this release, 33.3 have finally come into their own. The group spent a week in Chicago recording at Steve Albini's EAR studio with Bob Weston (Shellac, x Volcano Suns, has recorded The Rachel's & A Minor Forest) behind the board.
The outcome presents the listener with lush songs full of instrumentation and a new found structure for writing. This release moves them away from their angular songs and odd times signatures of past, and presents 33.3's eclectic pop influences, as well as highlights their artistic tastes with regards to packaging.
