Now, Tamarindo comes back with a live recording where this group responsible for the most captivating creative jazz played nowadays is transformed into a quartet, by the addition of the trumpeter extraordinaire Wadada Leo Smith as special guest. Only to know it would make anyone eager to listen to what can result from such an association of incredible talents ? well, if you have high expectations, here are the very good news: the music inside is even better than everything you can imagine.

"Druga odsłona Tamarindo Tony'ego Malaby'ego - tym razem dzięki magicznej wprost obecności Wadady Leo Smitha jest o wiele intensywniejszym doznaniem. Klasyczny, freejazzowy kwartet to formuła dosyć już wyeksploatowana. Wielu kreatywnych muzyków udowadniało jak mobilna i twórcza potrafi być to formacja, jeśli tylko lider potrafi zdyscyplinować jej członków. Malaby przyjmuje nieco inną koncepcję - on, bazując na własnych, szkicowych kompozycjach, nie stara się członków swojego zespołu ograniczać, a raczej zdaje się na ich inwencję i kreatywność. I świetnie na tym wychodzi. Trębacza Leo Smitha przedstawiać nie trzeba. Mówić o jego kreatywności też. Udowodniał to przez lata grając w zespołach Braxtona, Leroya Jenkinsa, Roscoe Mitchella i prowadząc własne zespoły z Golden Quartet na czele. Nie inaczej ma się sprawa z Williamem Parkerem i Nasheetem Waitsem tworzącymi tu sekcję rytmiczną. I chociaż zespół wyrasta z tria - nie widać tu żadnych szwów. Dołączenie do składu trębacza zagęszcza muzykę formacji, bardzo zresztą rozwichrzoną i konceptualną w duchu, a nie ją rozrywa. Muzyka staje się przez to jakby bardziej naturalna, organiczna, a mnie intelektualna. Świetna płyta i niezła jazda - oto jubileuszowa, dwusetna produkcja Clean Feedu..."
